Learn legal principles and how they are applied. This course is designed for people who wish to work under the supervision of a lawyer whether in lawyer's offices, government offices, local authorities, or commercial offices such as banks.

  1. This course is designed for people who wish to work under the supervision of a lawyer whether in lawyers’ offices, government offices, local authorities, or commercial offices with in-house lawyers such as banks. 
  2. Those working in law offices may, under the supervision of a solicitor, be doing any of:

 

  • Conveyancing including taking instructions from clients, checking documents before clients sign them, advising on documents already signed, mortgage documents, searching of titles, preparation of settlement statements, and registration. 
  • Preparation of wills;  and administration and distribution of estates of people who have died.
  • Preparation of documents and miscellaneous tasks related to preparing for court cases.    (Legal executives do not appear in Court but may do preparatory work for the lawyers who are to appear in Court on behalf of clients). 
  • Establishing new companies. 
  • Small commercial leases.
