Whitireia offer a range of social and community work programmes. Specialise in mental health, aged care, rehabilitation or child development. Study one of these programmes and develop skills and knowledge to help others.

  • Bachelor of Social Work

    Become a competent social worker, with a commitment to the provision of social services within a context of ethical practice and accountability. LEVEL 7

  • National Diploma in Mental Health (Mental Health Support Work)

    This diploma is designed for people who have already developed, or wish to develop, a higher level of competence in mental health support work than is covered by the National Certificate. They must also lead a team of mental health workers. LEVEL 6

  • National Certificate in Mental Health and Addiction Support

    This one year programme is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills they need to work alongside mental health consumers/tangata whai ora in achieving the best quality of life for all. LEVEL 4

  • National Certificate in Tamariki Ora – Well Child Services

    This course is aimed at people interested in working in Well Child services and includes child development. Well Child services focus on children under five years old in clinics, client homes, marae and Pacific health settings. LEVEL 4
