Julia writes for 5–15 year olds in a range of fiction and non-fiction genres. Her books cover a variety of subject matter including robots, hair dye, and stunt driving. They are published here and in Australia, mainly for students in Australia and the United States. Her background is in educational publishing and she has worked for Lands End and Learning Media, project managing and editing children's book programmes for international markets. Julia has a BA in English Literature from Victoria University and a Diploma in Publishing from Whitireia. She has been a student on writing courses run by Bill Manhire and Kate de Goldi at Victoria University.
She enjoys writing for children because it’s creative and helps children access the wonderful world of language. “I enjoy tutoring because it brings together my passions for writing, reading, and helping others on their writing journey.”
