Faculty of Service Industries

The Faculty of Service Industries is a diverse faculty, offering a number of programmes incorporating practical applications.

Study and career pathways are provided, from Level 1 Certificates to Level 5 Diplomas, in the following areas: Catering, Hospitality and Tourism, Office Administration and Computing, Beauty and Hairdressing, Retail and First Line Management and Outdoor Adventure.

The focus of the faculty is to produce graduates who are work-ready in a number of areas within the service sector, while encouraging them to continue with study. Applied knowledge and skills are embedded in programmes using specialist training rooms. A number of programmes also include work experience and extensive internships. Many programmes are offered in a flexi or online delivery mode with a number of students studying while employed. The faculty is also involved in delivering full cost recovery industry training and these links is an important aspect for staff and students.

The faculty has four active programme advisory committees, with appropriate industry representatives, who are involved in curriculum development and the monitoring of standards.

Our strong links with five industry training organisations means faculty staff are fully informed on trends in industry and can monitor future training requirements and employment trends.

Our tutors are well qualified, with most coming directly from the industry sector they serve. As such, they are able to pass on relevant practical and theoretical knowledge to their students.
