Domestic Fees: $4,165 (per year)

International Fees: NZD $16,885 (per year)

Student Association fees are additional and compulsory to the stated programme fee.

Domestic students

Whitireia degree entry requirements – (see Full Course Details) OR evidence of successful study/work experience

International students

Proven equivalence to domestic requirements PLUS IELTS 6.0

Whitireia Degree Requirements

A minimum of 42 credits at NCEA Level 3 or higher made up of:

  • 14 credits in an approved Level 3 or higher subject
  • 14 credits in a second approved Level 3 or higher subject
  • 14 credits in no more than two other approved Level 3 subjects or domains

PLUS

  • 8 credits at Level 2 or higher in English or te reo Māori with at least 4 credits in reading and 4 credits in writing
  • 14 credits at Level 1 or higher in mathematics/pāngarau

Discretionary Entrance for students under 20 years of age

Students under 20 who have NCEA credits at Level 2 or higher but who do not meet the undergraduate degree requirements may apply for discretionary entrance. Each application will be assessed on its merits and entrance granted at the Dean's discretion:

  • A minimum of 56 NCEA credits at Level 2 from no more than four subjects, including 8 credits at Level 2 in English or te reo Māori (4 credits reading and 4 credits writing)
  • 14 credits at Level 1 in mathematics/pāngarau
  • Supporting recommendation from the applicant's school or workplace 

Entry requirements for students 20 years of age and over

  • Meet the academic undergraduate degree requirements or equivalent or provide evidence of success in recent tertiary level study at Level 4 or above
  • Previous work and life experience will be taken into account for mature students

Description

Level 7 programme

This practical and applied degree offers students 'real world' skills that enable them to hit the ground running when they enter the workforce. With core skills provided in all majors, plus 'employability' skills such as comminication, we meet the needs of today's employers.

There are a wide variety of opportunities in industries for marketing, management, finance and hopitality graduates.

The Bachelor of Applied Business Studies programme aims to satisfy both the student's and industry needs for a credible and practical study programme that will:

  • Help students recognise the relevance and importance of business knowledge to business communities within a modern society.
  • Equip students with an understanding of the principles of business disciplines enabling them to appreciate and apply this knowledge in practice.
  • Equip students with the personal, group and technical skills appropriate to practice Business Studies within the workforce.
  • Develop in students a well integrated and applied knowledge of the major aspects of Business Studies and the ability to relate these to practical issues of management.
  • Develop in the students the tools, techniques and models applied to the solution of business problems.
  • Develop in students management and leadership abilities through independent research and investigation.
  • Develop in students an appreciation of innovative, creative and entrepreneurial approaches to business development and issues.

Class times are provided on enrolment.

Students who have not graduated from New Zealand Diploma in Business need to complete eight first year core papers.
