Bachelor of Information Technology (Level 7)

Design, engineer, build and create programs, networks, phone systems, mobile applications, databases and websites for the information and communication technologies of the future.    Hands-on learning in IT.

Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Information Technology is a business technology-oriented programme with a high practical component. The programme aims to produce graduates who have a good grasp of the fundamental principles and theory of Information Technology, together with independent learning skills, and familiarity with technologies commonly used in business and industry.

The aim of the programme is to combine employability with the academic base required for further study at post-graduate level.

This is a three year study programme with part-time options available.

Programme Outline

This programme includes computer programming in .Net and Java along with other modern languages needed for software development in an Internet enabled environment.  Further areas of study include project management, data networks and communication, databases and analysis and design for software applications.  The degree has a special capstone project undertaken by all students in their third year of study which provides them with the practical industry-based experience of working in a team environment to produce a full-scale Information Technology solution.

Entry Requirements

Domestic Students:  Meet the degree entry requirements

International Students:  Require proven equivalence of domestic degree entry requirements
PLUS IELTS 6.0 (with no band lower than 5.5) or equivalent

 

Campus Starts on Duration
Porirua 2017: 13 February, 17 July Three years, full-time; part-time options available
Auckland City 2017: 7 February, 29 May, 11 September Three years, full-time; part-time options available

Domestic Fees: $6,457 (per year)

International Fees: $19,950 NZD (per year)

Continue to study to gain a Graduate Diploma in Information Technology - Level 7.
Graduates will have acquired detailed knowledge and skills in selected areas of ICT and become ICT professionals.
