Programme Overview


Level 4

Whitireia New Zealand have been delivering work-ready Office Administration and Computing graduates for over 20 years.  We have built up a strong team of industry experienced tutors who each offer different areas of expertise.   Our tutors lead, motivate and inspire students to ensure their success.

The Certificate in Office Administration and Computing (Advanced) consists of six practical modules taught over 20 weeks. Modules are made up of NZQA Unit Standards which have been chosen to reflect the requirements of employers in the business administration field.

You will learn advanced office administration skills and computing, including MYOB, Payroll and advanced word processing, diary management and business correspondence.   We also offer a work experience placement within the programme.

As well as delivering quality in-class courses using the latest technology and training facilities, you can now choose to learn by distance, enabling you to study while working.  This flexible option allows you to study part-time and complete short courses or one-year courses.

Alternatively, we can also customise or provide in-house courses to suit your business requirements.

To study by distance, students must have access to a computer with Microsoft  suite installed, access to the internet, employed in an office job and live in the Wellington region (Wellington - Levin).

From 1 January 2012, membership in the Whitireia Independent Students Association (WISA) will be voluntary.   Whitireia New Zealand and WISA are working together to set up processes for this change. 

Entry Requirements

Domestic students

- 8 credits at NCEA Level 2 English or evidence of skills/successful study/work experience based on interview.
- Students living in the Wellington - Levin Region.
- Flexible work option must be employeed in an administration role.

International students

Proven equivalence to domestic entry requirements and IELTS 5.5 or equivalent

Further Study

Depending on your interests, you can continue your study at Whitireia with the
• Certificate in Business (First Line Management)
• Diploma in IT
• Diploma in Business

Alternatively, you will have the confidence to study higher level programmes offered at Whitireia.
