Competency Assessment Programme for Nurses

If you're a nurse who has registered overseas, or one who wants to return to clinical practice after time away, this course will help you apply for, or update, your annual practising certificate.    LEVEL 7

Short Course

This is a 7-12 week programme which involves simulated practice assessments, clinical placements and assessments in hospitals or the community, completion of a range of worksheets, and a Treaty of Waitangi workshop and one assignment.   This programme has three intakes per year.

NOTE:  2012 Programmes are currently FULL for international students.  NZ Registered Nurses may still apply.

From 1 January 2012, membership in the Whitireia Independent Students Association (WISA) will be voluntary.   Whitireia New Zealand and WISA are working together to set up processes for this change.

Nursing Council letter which invites you to complete the compentency assessment programme PLUS
Curriculum Vitae

International students

Proven equivalence to domestic entry requirements , IELTS 7.0  or equivalent OR OET with a minimum of B pass AND minimum of one year's full time clinical experience as a registered nurse.

On completing the course and the Nursing Council of New Zealand competencies Registered Nurses are ready to work in a variety of community and hospital settings.
