Level 3 programme
The National Certificate in Tourism is an 18 week course which gives you knowledge and skills to begin working in the travel and tourism industry or for further study. Students will complete NZQA units standards to gain the National Certificate in Tourism (Core Skills) (Level 3).
Learn tourism, destination knowledge, travel legislation, word processing, communication and employment preparation with our industry experienced tutors. You will study in our well equipped, dedicated tourism classroom and also gain an understanding of the industry through guest speakers and field trips.
This is a great course for gaining essential skills to get started in one of New Zealand’s fastest growing and vibrant industry.

Course Outline
Tourism & Travel Skills: Learn all about the tourism industry, including careers and have the opportunity to complete work experience in the industry.
Destination Knowledge: Learn all about New Zealand, including its attractions, accommodation and transportation network.
Communication and customer service skills: Learn how to deliver and exceed customers expectations to a diverse range of customers, and learn to effectively deal with complaints.
Selling skills: Learn to sell a range of travel products and issue documentation for holiday travel.
Travel legislation: Gain a thorough understanding of legislation and how it applies in relation to the tourism industry.
Computing: Learn to produce travel itineraries and confirmation letters as well as effectively using the internet as an information tool.
Employment preparation: Learn about career and job roles in the tourism industry and be confident and work-ready through CV preparation, interview techniques and personal presentation skills.
