Whitireia hosted a delegation from Shaanxi Banking School, China yesterday. The delegation visited the Porirua campus where they were welcomed by staff and Ngāti Toa Kaumātua Taku Parai.
This visit follows one from the Shaanxi Banking School president, Den Tao, and delegation, in March last year, to the polytechnic, where an updated Memorandum of Intent was signed to explore further educational opportunities in the areas of teacher training, staff and student exchanges.
Whitiriea have had a relationship with Shaanxi Banking School for three years now said Don Campbell, Chief Executive. “The delegation that visited yesterday is the second teacher group we have hosted from the school, the first being in August last year. This group of teachers are interested in learning more about teaching technologies and teaching experience exchanges – they are keen to learn more from us”.
Shaanxi Banking School has chosen New Zealand to partner with as they believe that this country has one of the best education systems.
“We look forward to working with and strengthening our relationship with Shaanxi Banking School and look forward to the next teacher delegation visiting our institution” said Campbell.
