2,000 new students were welcomed to Whitireia in a Powhiri under a sun soaked atrium.
The Powhiri kicks off the start of Orientation week, which promises to be a good one! From pizza eating competitions to DJ performances, new students have an exciting week ahead.

Chief Executive Don Campbell welcomed students and encouraged them to follow in the success of last year’s graduates, “With our outstanding success rates you have a good chance of achieving and succeeding here at Whitireia.”

Students were welcomed with a waiata from the Bachelor of Nursing (Maori) students, accompanied by third year Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Nursing (Pacific) students. A student represent spoke on behalf of the students and encouraged the students to ‘stand strong, work hard and persevere’ throughout their study.

Four young students straight from Aotea College were out enjoying the sun and meeting new people.
