On the 30 November 2012, Mana Zonta is presenting a Design Award to a female student from Whitireia Visual Arts and Design on completion of her degree. The award of $3,000 will be presented to a student who has demonstrated outstanding drive and motivation for design; maintains consistent academic standards and has contributed to a design research activity aimed towards commercialisation.
The fields of study include graphic/pattern/surface print design, textiles body adornment and fashion design. The entries will be selected by a panel from Mana Zonta and Whitireia with a guest designer.
This award is about Women empowering Women to succeed. A helping hand at the beginning of a fledgling design career can make all the difference and possibly save years of struggle for the recipient.
Zonta are proud to again be working with Whitireia and its Visual Arts and Design students said Barbara Thompson, Chair, Zonta New Zealand. “I’m impressed with the way students retain who they are while pursuing their goals and visions over the course of study”.
