Around 100 staff and invited guests attended a blessing for the new Wikitoria Katene building at the Porirua campus early yesterday morning. The new building will house the Faculty of Health, administration, classrooms and conference facilities.
The blessing was led by Ngāti Toa Kaumatua, Karewa Arthur who guided attendees through the two floors of the building.
The $16.5m building which has total footprint of around 3817 square metres, includes laboratories and simulation suites, it will provide state-of-the-art training facilities to around 1000 students from the Faculty of Health.
The building is full of very modern features – several being eco-friendly. It will create an atmosphere for excellence on campus and makes a positive and significant change to the landscape of the Porirua campus.
The building will be officially opened on 20 March.
