Not to be missed Contemporary Jewellery Auction

Posted on November 8, 2012

Tonight Whitireia and Finc Dining Room (Finc) are proud to present the annual Jewellers of Whitireia contemporary jewellery fundraiser auction.
The live auction starts at 6.30pm sharp and will be led by Kim Hill.  This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to obtain high quality works at affordable prices.
On offer will be works donated by leading jewellers with an international reputation including Ted Noten, Manon van Kouswijk, Lisa Walker, Karl Fritsch, Peter Deckers, Renee Bevan, Matthew McIntyre Wilson, Neke Moa and Owen Mapp.  These pieces will be auctioned alongside the amazing works of Whitireia Jewellery students.
Up for auction tonight is a fabulous piece of jewellery by Amelia Pascoe, a final year Whitireia Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design student. Working on a small scale, and using jewellery techniques Amelia’s work straddles the boundaries of adornment, and small object -often drawing on her past experiences in the world of animal and ecological sciences, and her love of a good story. Amelia has been studying at Whitireia since 2010 when she completed a Diploma in Jewellery Design. The year culminated with receipt of the Julie Obren scholarship from the Porirua Community Arts Council for a returning visual arts student whose work and work-ethic displays great potential for continued success. Further recognition of Amelia’s work came in 2011 with receipt of the Jewellery Manufacturers’ Federation Award for Excellence.
