Pasifika Trades Training is a Government led initiative whereby Pasifika Church Ministers are identifying potential Trades trainees and together with Whitireia and WelTec, will select and mentor the scholarship recipients.

80 Trades Training Scholarships are being offered by Whitireia and WelTec on a one-year programme of study through this initiative.

The Trades Training Scholarship programmes on offer at Whitireia will be:

• Certificate in Carpentry
• Certificate in Plumbing, Drainlaying, Gasfitting and Roofing
• Certificate in Electrical Engineering
• Certificate in Horticulture and Landscaping
• Certificate in Civil Construction Introductory Skills

An open day for scholarship applicants will be held at the Whitireia Industry Trades Centre, 12 Mohuia Crescent, Elsdon, Porirua, on the 11 January 2012 at 2pm. This will provide an opportunity for applicants to talk to tutors and staff about the programmes on offer and to ask any questions. Campus tours will also take place.
