Student Financial Advisor
The Student Financial Advisor provides free and confidential advice on financial matters for students. The Student Financial Advisor also administers the Whitireia Community Polytechnic Hardship Fund and provides assistance to students in financial crisis.
Students can receive advice and assistance on:
- Budgeting and financial planning
- Students loans and allowances
- Hardship Grant applications
- Food voucher applications
- WINZ/Study Link grants and entitlements.

Hardship Grants
This grant is to assist students faced with immediate financial crisis. An appointment with the financial advisor is necessary. Applicants must be either a full year part time student or on a full time course of 12 weeks or more. The maximum grant is $250 and you must have exhausted all other avenues of assistance eg. Student Loan course related costs, Tertiary student bank account including an overdraft and WINZ/Study Link. A bank statement or printout is required before any financial assistance can be given.
Food Vouchers
Limited food vouchers are available for students who find themselves short of food while waiting for the next pay day. A bank statement or printout is required before any financial assistance can be given.
