About WISA

GOVERANCE:
WISA is bound by a  Constitution which outlines the functions of the Association. The Constitution is a legal binding document.

The Student Executive govern the association , and each year an AGM (Annual General Meeting) is held for re-election of existing members and electing new members. The Student Executive represent you to ensure your needs and views are taken into account when decisions are made.

YOU: As a student you may see a need for improvement in student facilities and support. If you believe you have the skills that would benefit student life on campus, then consider becoming an Executive Member of WISA. Executive Members undertake responsibility of a portfolio.

Or if you still want to be actively involved in student business and student politics but have insufficient time, then consider nominating yourself as a Class Representative if you don't already have one in your class. The Vice President chairs the Class Rep Committee who meet once a month. This Committee reports to the Student Association Executive who also meet once a month.

Ultimately you do not have to be an Executive Member or Class Rep to have a voice on WISA. Your feedback, concerns and ideas are always welcome. We acknowledge all input from students.

On November 18th 2010, two significant events occurred.  First, members who attended the Special General Meeting of the Whitireia Independent Students’ Association agreed to adopt the constitution provided by Ford Sumner Lawyers (Whitireia New Zealand Lawyers) and elections were held for the Summer Committee.

The students who were successfully elected onto the Summer committee are:

Mahia Fuimaono
Bachelor Applied Arts – Music Year 2
Vice President

Tanya Thompson
Bachelor of Nursing Pacific  Year 1
Treasurer

Memorie Taylor
Bachelor of Nursing Maori  Year 1
Executive

Victoria Goodin
Bachelor of Applied Business Studies   Year 2
Executive

Sione Palavi
Bachelor Applied Arts Music Year 2
Executive

First of all we acknowledge the difficulty the previous committee experienced with so many barriers put in front of them by different students.   We appreciate that the 2010 Summer Committee may not have been possible if the previous committee had decided to give up on the Association.

Despite everything that has happened our Team have completed all our study requirements.   We are committed to putting in place policy and procedures that are inclusive and provides more transparency.  We are preparing for next years Orientation.  We are also preparing for the full elections in 2011.  We are providing as much information for the Forensic Audit as possible.

MANAGEMENT CONSISTS OF:
