Upcoming Orientations

You are about to embark on your own unique study journey with us. It is an exciting time and our aim is to support you every step of the way – starting with Orientation. Orientation is about preparing for your study, meeting the people who are here to support you and having some fun. It begins with a pōwhiri and continues with roadshows, expos, workshops and other events


You are invited to attend Pōwhiri, officially welcoming you to Whitireia and celebrating both the beginning of your relationship with us and the start of your study journey.  Pōwhiri are held at multiple campuses on a number of dates. 

28 February 2018

Whitireia Construction students and WelTec Social Services students
Porirua campus, 9:30 – 10:15

5 March 2018

There are separate pōwhiri for new and returning students studying at Te Kāhui Auaha.

10:00am: Pōwhiri for returning students, followed by refreshments and activities. Students are to gather in the Dixon St carpark at the end of the building by 9:45am.

11:30am: Pōwhiri for new students, followed by refreshments and activities. Students are to gather in the Dixon St carpark at the end of the building by 11:15 am.

1:00pm: Students to return to the refreshment area for a tour of the building.

Student IDs:

Students studying at  Te Kāhui Auaha can get their ID photos taken at the Whitireia Wellington campus on Dixon St from 9am – 12pm on the following days:

  • 12-16 February 
  • 20-23 February
  • 26-28 February

If your photo is taken prior to 5 March, your ID card will be available to be collected on the first day.

Student Hub Open Day

Come on in to the Student Hub and take a look around. Grab a hot drink, ask us anything, use the computers and sports equipment, play some board games, sign-up or start a group or club, relax, meet other students and more, with giveaways throughout the day.

Kick Start (Youth students)

Kick Start is a three hour session of fun and engaging activities for all students under 25 years. Take this opportunity to meet other students, staff and key people who will guide you towards your study success. Refreshments and lunch are provided.

Meet some Mates is a great opportunity to meet new people on campus, with giveaways and more.

International Student Orientation

Friday 23 February, 9am – 2:30pm, Porirua campus
(meet at Information & Enrolment)

International students will receive information about the following:

  • Student visas
  • Driving laws
  • Personal safety
  • Unicare insurance
  • General insurance
  • Health and learning services

Attendance is compulsory for all international students. Refreshments and lunch are provided.
