Collaborative partnerships support learning for Swiss nursing students

The Faculty of Health Te Kura Hauora recently hosted two Swiss nursing students for a six week work-integrated learning experience. Jeanne Voruz and Albane Perret are the third group of students that Whitireia has hosted from Haute Ecole de la Santé la Source in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The students spent two weeks based on the Porirua campus, attending classes and workshops to introduce them to healthcare and nursing in Aotearoa/New Zealand. They stayed with local Whitireia families during this period and had a primary healthcare experience with Te Aro Health Centre. Jeanne and Albane then had four weeks of clinical learning based at Wellington Hospital.

The pair said they valued the opportunity to develop both their English language skills and their nursing skills. The success of this experience is based on the collaborative partnership between Whitireia students, staff members and industry partners.
