Koiri and Origins from Whitireia Visual Arts students

Published on

Graduating Whitireia Visual Arts students are exhibiting their work over summer with Koiri: Breath of Life. The various cultural backgrounds of the students have become the thread uniting the exhibition, which will be on display from 25 November until 24 January 2001 at Pātaka Museum of Arts and Culture in Porirua.

First year students from the same programme will be exhibiting work in the annual Origins exhibition which will begin at the same time and run until 10 December.

Both exhibitions feature designs and artwork in a wide range of media. In designing works for Koiri and Origins, students aim to refine their skills and develop the stories that emerge from research into their personal backgrounds.

Students and staff see the exhibition as a fortunate opportunity for students to experience installing their work in a professional exhibition space. The students work closely with gallery professionals in designing and installing their exhibition to professional standards.
