Community money has been recycled to help local students fund their education. The Mana Community Grants Foundation has presented a cheque for $50,000 to the Whitireia Foundation. This will be used to assist local students study in their chosen field at Whitireia Community Polytechnic.

Mr John Burke, Chairman of the Mana Community Grants Foundation presented the cheque to Mrs Margaret Faulkner, Chairperson of the Whitireia Foundation last week.

The Mana Community Grants Foundation has been a generous donor to local causes for many years and sees education as one of the best ways to assist people achieve their goals in life.

The Whitireia Foundation was set up to safeguard and administer money donated to the trust, to ensure it generated funds so that it could be turned back to the community.

Many companies and individuals have made generous donations to the Whitireia Foundation which now has a substantial capital sum invested. Nearly $25,000 was passed out to students recently in the form of scholarships.
