The Certificate in Work Skills (Hospitality and Tourism) is a one year, full-time, fees-free qualification designed for youth. Learn from friendly industry-experienced tutors and gain practical, hands-on experience working in our on-site training cafe. ​Gain the confidence to study NZQA qualifications while learning about customer service, communication, tourism, and coffee making. Access student support and career guidance, with a focus on literacy, numeracy, individual learning plans, recreation time and life skills.

Programme Outline

Customer Service Experience working in a real café, participating in team work and gaining the tools to deliver and meet customer expectations while providing a safe and secure environment for the customer.

Food Safety Gain an understanding of food safety methods while baking on café days.

Food and Beverage Preparation Learn food and beverage preparation and service. Gain experience and skills in taking customer orders, operating espresso machines and other equipment in our on-site training café.

Tourism Learn about the tourism industry and the career opportunities available. Discover major attractions, activities and events within the most popular destinations in New Zealand and the world.

Graduates of the Certificate in Work Skills (Hospitality and Tourism) will also gain the New Zealand Certificate in Hospitality (Level 2) which is embedded into this programme.
