Programme Outline

The following 15 credit courses make up the New Zealand Diploma in Digital Media and Design (Level 6):

  • Study the cultural, social and historical contexts that influence design
  • Develop critical thinking skills
Context in Practice
  • Develop contextual thinking as part of working design practice
  • Experiment with contextual elements in design
Digital Studio
  • Develop digital design skills and their application in project work
  • Apply recognised design principles
  • Develop skills in lens-based technology
  • Create and manipulate images using a camera
Illustration / Drawing
  • Develop skills to prepare and produce illustrations in black and white and in colour
  • Use a range of traditional and digital tools and techniques
Publication Design
  • Develop design and typography skills for print and digital media
Web Design
  • Develop skills and knowledge required to design a practical, functioning website
Motion Graphics
  • Develop skills for integrating graphics, type and sound to create a motion graphic output

Entry Requirements

New Zealand Diploma in Digital Media and Design (Level 5), or equivalent

International Students

Proven equivalence of entry requirements plus IELTS 6.0 (no band below 5.5), or equivalent
